Lagaip Poverty Relievers Association Incorporated (LPRA) in the new Lagaip District of Enga Province has partnered with the Fresh Produce Development Agency (FPDA) to enhance the commercialization of potato farming in the district and the province as a whole.
LPRA Chairman Tony Sulupin said that they have initiated a project for multiplying and distributing potato seeds in the Pilikambi Local Level Government, with plans to expand into the other two constituencies of the district.
“In partnership with Fresh Produce Development Agency (FPDA) we are developing clean potato seeds to distribute to farmers,” Sulupin said.
He added that the next step is to train potato farmers with intent to foster farmers to enhance their skills and knowledge in Lagaip district.
Sulupin emphasized that potato farming is doing well due to the cool climate in this part of the province.
