ERAP CULTURAL SHOW ENDS ON A HIGH

The second edition of annual Middle Erap Cultural Show was a success that attracted further backing from Nawaeb District member Theo Pelgen.
Hosted last weekend from July 5-6, 2025, the show featured unique culture and unity on display at Tinibe village in the Erap Local Level Government, Morobe Province.
The show was officially opened by Mr. Pelgen and Nawaeb district coffee manager Joshua Menos at the Tinibe Primary School gives support to the youths in the area.
The show’s Committee Chairman John Dige said the show is an initiative of youths in Erap with the vision to grow tourism in the area. The inaugural event took place last year, and has again attracted an estimated crowd of over 3000 people coming from the nine wards in Erap.
He said last year the show was supported by Nawaeb District Development Authority (DDA) with K50, 000 funding. The DDA came through again with K60, 000 this year.
He said the K60, 000 funding given was used to pay outstanding of last year’s show including expenses of hosting this year’s show.
Mr. Pelgen who was at the venue during the show further pledge an additional K20, 000 to the show to assist course.
During his speech Pelgen said it is with deep humility and great joy be part of the show to support the local people in keeping their cultures alive and it lives in their languages, traditions, songs and stories.
He further, reminded the Erap people that they are the guardians of their heritage in an age that is changing very fast and creating and upholding the deep connection is essential.
He also appealed to the young people of Erap to preserve their traditions and cultures adding that they are the next storytellers, leaders and protectors of this land.
