LAGAIP OPEN MP ACKNOWLEDGES THE FRANCISCA SISTERS

The Catholic Church was sincerely acknowledged for the religious, social and humanitarian services to the people of Papua New Guinea.

Lagaip Open MP Hon.Aimos Akem acknowledged the tremendous input put foward by the first Bishop of Mendi Firmin Schmidt, OFM Cap. in the Catholic Church’s developmental efforts towards the religious and social developmental efforts put forward for the betterment of the Highlands Region and Papua New Guinea as a whole.


The Franciscan Sisters of Mary (FSM) gathered in Mendi in the Southern Highlands Province for prayer and planning at their annual meeting held recently.

The FSM was founded as a local congregation of Sisters by the first Bishop of Mendi, Bishop Firmin Schmidt, OFM Cap. The Sisters serve in various ministries, e.g., health, pastoral and education.
The Lagaip District Development Authority is committed to work with all church groups and organizations in the district as it is the churches that live and interact with the people on a daily basis.
