BSP BANKING CENTRES WILL OPEN ON SATURDAY FOR SCHOOL FEE DEPOSIT

It has come to a time where lines in banks will be queuing up as parents want to pay school fees for students.

In order to reduce the long queues and help people ease the struggle, Bank of South Pacific (BSP) will open on Saturdays as well, to accept school fee payments commencing this Saturday 21st of January.

The announcement was made by the BSP Deputy General Manager for retail-sales and customer services Peter Komon in a statement.

“We understand that a lot of our customers cannot make it to our branches during the week days to pay for school fees therefore BSP, as in past years, has allowed for selected Branches to be open on Saturdays for ‘Back-to-school’ needs, commencing this Saturday 21st January, 2023,” Komon said.

The following 28 branches around the country will be open on Saturdays to accept school fee deposit for five weeks starting from 9am to 1pm.

Buka, Arawa, Kokopo, Palmalmal, Wewak, Maprik, Yangoru, Goroka, Wabag, Tari, Banz, Madang, Gusap, Alotau, Lae Top Town, Bulolo, Kavieng, Lihir, Waigani Banking Centre, Popondetta, Kundiawa, Mendi, Kimbe, Aitape, Vanimo, Kiunga, Tabubil and Mt Hagen.

Mr Komon said another way of reducing the risk of standing on queues is to use the mobile banking system provided by BSP and urged customers to register for mobile banking to make their banking easier.

“Whilst Saturday Banking is available for school and tertiary related fee deposits, School Fee Payment service is also available through BSP Mobile Banking USSD service *131# and on BSP Pay. We encourage our customers to register and use BSP Mobile Banking to pay school fees directly to the schools from the comfort of their home or office.  Alternatively, customers can use BSP Internet Banking to pay fees directly to these schools as well as BSP Pay for a select number of schools,” Mr Komon added.

Manager Komon said mobile banking services for school fee payment applies to the schools that are registered as BSP Mobile Merchants and issued a school code. The customer who uses mobile banking to pay school fees will be given a reference for successfully completing the transaction. The reference can be used by the students in school.
