FINANCIAL LITERACY TRAINING

Trainers and volunteers from the UN Women, are rolling out their pilot financial literacy training in Huhu Local Level Government in the Alotau District of Milne Bay Province.

This training began on Monday and runs through to Saturday.

Over a hundred participants from Waema and YaneYanene ward came together at the Sineada Hall to kick start their program.

This training is part of the Markets Economic Recovery & Inclusion Program, which is supported by the Australian Government and is implemented by UN women in partnership with the Department of Community Development and Religion.

This training is family oriented and the target audience are people with low or no financial literacy level.

YaneYanene Ward member, Margret Maika expresses gratitude and excitement to be part of this training.

Another participant, Steven John who is a grade eleven business studies student at Sacred Heart Secondary School, Hagita, said this is an opportunity that will broaden his knowledge on business.

With this being the first District, traini9ng facilitator Nunuleia Noel said they hope to extend their reach to the other 3 districts within Milne Bay Province in the near future.
