Goroka General Hospital CEO Refutes Claims of Improper Equipment

 

Goroka General Hospital refutes public claims that they are not using proper equipment and testing to detect bacteria and viruses.

Director Curative Health Services, Dr Kapiro Kendaura, made it clear that the hospital has microbiology services, which they have been using since August 2018.

The Hospital claims to be the only government-run provincial hospital in Papua New Guinea besides Port Moresby General Hospital, to have culture and sensitivity tests from their microbiology services.

Microbiology services in big public hospitals such as in Goroka, Mt Hagen, Lae and Port Moresby should also be present in all the hospitals nationwide to give proper health care services to the people.

Goroka General Hospital is privileged to have the state of the heart facility with improved technology.

The hospital has received public and media backlash recently, after reports of a klabsiella Pneumonia outbreak, which involved the death of three infants
