Quality education and health services are the foundation for building good society and growth in human resource in a country. This was the main message delivered by West Sepik Governor, Tony Wouwou, while presenting a school truck and opening a health centre staff house in Nuku District, West Sepik Province.
The school truck, worth over 200 thousand kina, was presented to Pamaya High School, one of the only two high schools in the district. Following this, another 200 thousand kina worth of health centre staff housing was opened by the Governor in a nearby village.
The Governor said funding for the truck was derived from the provincial revenue funds, while the staff house was funded under PSIP. The governor said although it is a small gesture, the truck and staff house will act as a stepping stone for the people of Nuku. He also noted that there are plans for a new district hospital.
“Health is a very important aspect in our lives, as is education: it is very important to deliver this service”, he said.
