Gibbs Salika Sworn-In as New Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea

Sir Gibbs Salika is now the new Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea.

He was sworn in at the Government House yesterday by the Governor General, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae.

Sir Gibbs was appointed this month. He takes over from Sir Salamo Injia.

He hails from Western Province and was born in August of 1955.

Sir Gibbs was admitted to the bar in 1979 and went on to work with the office of the Public Prosecutor.

In 1988, Sir Gibbs was appointed magistrate and two years later, appointed a judge of the National and Supreme Courts.

He is married to Lady Rossica, and both have five children.

Sir Gibbs will be serving as Chief Justice for a term of 10 years. His ceremonial siting will be on the 14 of January 2019.
