Namatanai joins hands with Manalos Aviation for Medivac Services

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EMTV News, Port Moresby

People in the Namatanai District of New Ireland Province will now have access to a medivac service.

This service is a joint understanding between Namatanai District and Manalos Aviation.

Namatanai MP, Walter Schnaubelt, says this is one of the DDA’s resolutions to improve health services and serve the rural areas.

Police Minister, Jelta Wong, was given the honor of cutting the ribbons and see this service commence.

In 2016, EMTV visited Konoagil, a remote church-run station in Namatanai.

The health officer told EMTV, access to the health facility was very difficult for nearby communities.

This is an area the Namatanai District hopes to address with the medivac service.

The Medivac will also include search and rescue missions.

It will cost the local district authority K40, 000 in monthly bills, but the local MP says it is a valuable investment with human life at the core of this service.

Mr. Schnaubelt also made mention of the reopening of the Namatanai airstrip after more than 20 years of closure.
