Flame Stockfeed: Groim Moni Hariap

Goodman Fielder PNG, the maker of PNG’s number one Flame Stockfeed have been demonstrating in the villages how to turn a chicken farm into a successful business. Backed by its ‘Bikpela Hariap’ formulation and a team of farming experts, GFI have been overwhelmed at the requests for more sessions throughout the Southern Region.

Marketing Manager, Jeremy Fry, said of the initiative ‘There are plenty of people with small poultry set ups around the country primarily servicing their protein needs, but very few are turning this is into an income stream.’

The Flame Stock-feed Farmer Education sessions combine both the basic skills training with a commercial element advising on how to plan their budget, reinvest and most importantly save for the future. PML Micro-finance are represented in the sessions, and talk about their solutions to assist those who are interested in developing an income stream from their projects.

Since commencing in September last year, the Flame Stockfeed Education trainers have covered 65 villages in Central Province, with 28 of those being Motuan. With plans to rollout this exciting programme nationally, the team is currently training individuals and families across the East Sepik and Gulf Provinces.

Talking about the programme, Flame Stockfeed Brand Manager, Jasmin Sillorar, said that she was happy to be helping the community.

‘Many of the villages on the coast and waterways are facing issues with lower fish stocks and decreasing levels of wallabies and wild pigs. Chickens are a perfect and sustainable way to ensure adequate protein is included in the diet.’

Ms Sillorar added, ‘The more people that Flame Stockfeed teach to turn their small poultry project into a business will translate into benefits right up through the economy as people begin to realise how easy it is to make money out of chicken farming’.

Jeremy Fry reiterated the sentiment saying, ‘Our stockfeed business was built on the back of person to person engagement and we intend to connect with as many villages as we can to help the economic situation of the grassroots people of PNG.’
