North Waghi Locals Affected by Flood

About 2,000 people in the North Waghi District in Jiwaka, have been affected by flooding.

Wara Mombol burst its banks at 3am on the 24th of March, following continuous heavy rain.

The flash flood ripped down the steep banks of the Kaunang stream and washed away the bridge connecting North Waghi with Jimi districts.

The flood killed three people with two others injured and hospitalized.

Numerous domestic livestock, 300 houses, a vehicle, food and coffee gardens were washed away by the flood.

As yet, no relief efforts have been directed towards this flood disaster.

Concerned Wara Mombol Community members in Port Moresby have gathered today, raising funds and awareness towards this relief efforts.
