24 Security Personnel Complete the Public Order Management Course

Six Correctional Officers are among the 23 security personnel who have completed the Public Order Management Course.

A course designed to address riots that may occur in a public area.

This is an APEC security-related training involving members of the Joint Security Task Force Team.

From the 24 security personnel, six are CS officers; six are from the PNG Defence Force, while the rest are from police.

The training is designed to control crowds during unexpected unrest in a public area.

The security personnel staged a drill to demonstrate how they will respond to unrests, using the necessary equipment.

Representing the PNGDF, Commanding Officer of the First Royal Pacific Islands regiment Lt Col Boniface Aruma said the training will empower soldiers to discharge their duties.

The training is also a bonus for those in the Correctional Service, as it builds their capacity to control riots in a prison facility.

At least 40 other security personnel have already undergone this training.

The APEC Security operation will be the biggest joint operation to be conducted by Police, Defence and CS.

These officers are working closely with the Australian Police and Defence Force to ensure a safe and secure APCE.
