West New Britain Soccer Hopeful for NSL

At the moment, Kimbe Soccer Association has 10 teams, with participation that stretches as far as the outskirts of the township.

Unfortunately, this season is yet to kick off, as West New Britain is experiencing wet season at the moment.

Though work to put together an NSL team is already underway, in conjunction with the running of the NBPOL Soccer association.

Being the only two existing soccer associations in the Province affiliated to PNGFA, they will be working together to put together the best for a Kimbe NSL Team.

In a phone interview with EMTV Sports yesterday, Kimbe Soccer Association President Maha Waname indicated how the selection process will run.

” We will ensure that we pick the cream of the crop,” said Waname.

With a particular interest to involve the rural associations as well, the five existing associations affiliated to Kimbe Soccer Association; Buluma, Bialla, Buvusi, Ruango and Kaliai-Kove Soccer associations will be utilised as well in this selection process.

Having an NSL team obviously brings up the possibility of having home games which Mr Waname said they are already working towards getting the Muthuvel Stadium for the games.

And being back in the NSL and having Muthuvel Stadium as a draw card for home games is one way, Kimbe maintains its presence in the national following the 7th PNG Games.
