Court Dismisses IBSU case, DHERST Willing to Assist IBS to Regain University Status

Institute of Business Studies can only enroll students to its TVET programs.

The IBS University cannot operate outside of PNG legal Framework.

IBS has been requested to submit a request for a formal recognition and accept an Independent Institutional audit.

Until Such time, IBS cannot enroll students to the University.

DHERST Secretary, Father Jan Czuba, said DHERST’s Role is to facilitate the process of recognition of an Institution and accreditation of academic programs and reaffirmed that it stands ready to assist IBS in these two processes.

This follows IBS Group’s attempt to have its college recognised by Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology was dismissed by the National Court last week Friday.

Justice Hitelai Polume Kiele dismissed the case and discharged the initial orders of January 4 because the proceeding was not properly before court.

A motion led by IBS seeking contempt charges against Fr Jan, on Monday, for alleged non-compliance of the 4 January orders were also dismissed.
