With Papua New Guinea playing host to a series of APEC meetings this year, the Investment Promotion Authority has prepared for an increase in interest, particularly from APEC member countries.
According to the IPA, this has seen the organization have in place dedicated officers for APEC.
2018 is the year all eyes of the Asia Pacific Region will be on Papua New Guinea, with the country playing host to APEC.
Speaking to National EMTV News, Acting Managing Director of IPA, Clarence Hoot said as a lead government agency, they have prepared to deal with interests from these countries, with the IPA appointing dedicated officers to deal with APEC-related queries.
Through APEC, the IPA is spearheading two working groups;
1. The International Property Experts group, and
2. The Investment Experts Group
These groups will be meeting in PNG next month.
Despite it being only the third week of 2018, the IPA has already confirmed to host a few country delegations into the country – among them, a business delegation from China.
According to Mr Hoot, the increased interest in business within PNG is a positive beginning for this APEC Year, and the IPA will be partnering with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the country fully utilizes the opportunities that are presented by APEC.
