The Managing Director of the KT Building Contractors in Lae, Koslyn Tupui, has questioned a land title of state leased land alongside the Bumbu Bridge at China Town, currently registered to Wasu Amu.
Mr. Tupui applied for the land title in 2013 through Morobe’s Division of Lands. He is still waiting to obtain the actual title.
Meanwhile, the state land is registered as Portion 275 Milinch of Malahang Fourmil of Huon to Wasa Amu, operating as Wap and Co security in Lae.
According to the Morobe Provincial Division of Lands, the land, which is the state land, and has been vacant for more than 20 years.
The owners of KT Building Contractors, Koslyn Tapui and wife Margaret, had applied for a land title for the state land portion 422 Milinch Lae Fourmil of Huon in Morobe on 28 March 2013.
The proposed developments to be carried out by the company include site clearing and removal of top soil, perimeter fencing and minor civil works at an initial cost of K1.5 Million.
However, this state land portion was later found to be registered as State Land Portion 275 Milinch of Malahang to Wasu Amu in Lae.
According to records from Morobe Provincial Division of Lands, this land was formerly known as portion 422 Milinch of Malahang Fourmil of Huon, and owned by Post PNG.
In response to a stop work notice to Wasa Amu requested by Margaret Tupui, the Provincial Program Advisor for Lands, Jonah Suvi said that cancellation to the ownership must be done by the Department of Lands before it is made as land available for leasing through public tender for public interest.
Mr. Tupui said the matter has to be investigated.
