Trukai Gives Rice for East Sepik Relief

A tonne of rice was donated to the affected Kadovar Islanders by Trukai Industries in Wewak this afternoon.

East Sepik Governor, Allan Bird, received the donation on behalf of the Provincial Government.

“I would like to thank Trukai and other companies who have long called the East Sepik home,” said Bird.

Trukai Manager-Wewak, Casper Jeffrey, said the kind donation is to help the ongoing relief program.

“We are pleased to assist,” said Jeffrey.

He said the tonne is made up of about 50 bails of rice.

Governor Bird remarked that the affected islanders need urgent relief supply as food scarcity is a concern.

The tonne of rice is expected to be shipped to the Kadovar islanders who are currently settled at Ruprup Island.
