Mori: APEC a chance to open Business for PNG

By Jack Lapauve Jr, EMTV – Port Moresby

With the 2018 AEPC Summit nearing, Trade Commerce and Industry Minister Wera Mori says the business sector must fully utilize the opportunity.

Minister Mori urged State agencies and the private sector to collaborate in the best interest of the country. He says APEC will provide the perfect platform for local businesses, both private and public, to help PNG’s road to economic recovery.

He says despite the current economic struggles, small businesses will have the opportunity to open doors to boost the local economy.

The current state of the economy has had a significant effect on businesses in the country. However, the PNC-led Government has maintained that the 100 Day Plan will gradually address some of the issues faced. Minister Mori says that challenge can be endured if all stakeholders work together in one direction.

The Trade Commerce Minister says, despite the slow approach in growing PNG’s SME sector, he maintains that better dialogue with business representation from visiting countries will have a positive impact on PNG.

The APEC Summit will attract participants from over 20 countries for a week-long duration in the capital city. Meanwhile, preparations for most of the hosting facilities are progressing well.
