By: Julie Badui Owa, EMTV – Lae

A group consisting of 77 people from Ahi Local Level Government in Morobe graduated with certificates after attending two weeks of training on Health, Nutrition and Safety.

The training was organised by Ginigoada Foundation, through a partnership program by the Australian and PNG Governments.

The Ginigoada Foundation program is open to all, and gives everyone the opportunity to attend trainings without discrimination.

Ginigoada in Motu, means to ‘Stand Up Strong’. It has programs in Port Moresby, Central and Lae.

The foundation was set up in 2010, and has to date enrolled more than 17,000 people into training courses.

Some of the participants are engaged in different trade skills. Six members of the Ahi community were selected by a company in Lae to do job training after attending the course.

The Ginigoada Foundation targets the less fortunate in communities. Its training program is open to everyone.

The Foundation’s program coordinator, Don Savi, has called on the nine districts of Morobe to work together to coordinate such trainings to help communities in the districts.
