Oil Search Limited Delivers Water Supply for over 500 Nipa-Kutubu Villagers

Over 500 villagers from Hebaiya in Nipa-Kutubu District, Southern Highlands now have access to clean and safe drinking water.

This has been made possible through Oil Search through its Drought Relief Assistance program.

Oil Search General Manager Stakeholder Engagement, Leon Buskens, was on hand to officially hand of the project to the village.

“For Oil Search, we’re pleased to give back to our villages and communities in our project area.

Partnerships are very important for Oil Search…Oil Search has started partnerships with Government, Local Level Governments and local communities.”

In receiving the project, Lake Kutubu Local Level Government President, John Kila, thanked Oil Search for assisting the community in this difficult time.

“Oil Search has given us this project, and we must look after this project. Nobody else will look after this project, so we must take ownership and look after this vital service.”

His sentiments echoed by community leaders, who thanked the company for delivering a project of a high standard – a project which is in line with the National Government’s WaSH project standards.
