Private Technical School offering Studies

Asia Pacific Institute of Applied Social, Economic and Technical Studies, or APIASETS, is an international approved education training provider in the Pacific.

A Papua New Guinea’s private institution it provides an educational pathway to over 10 thousand school leavers.

EMTV News spoke to the Institution’s Director, Thomas Pillar, about its progress.

Asia Pacific Institute of Applied Social Economic and Technical Studies, or APIASETS is well established in terms of educational programs, infrastructures, staff capacity and student’s capability training.

The Institution has five schools; School of Education, Business Administration, Maritime, Health Sciences and Engineering. These schools have their respective principals.

It offers 119 course programs ranging from certificate and diploma in primary education, general nursing, aviation, and maritime among others.

Most of its programs are industry-oriented.

“We are training them so that when they leave school they become useful in work place,” Pillar said.

With Papua New Guinea’s growth, APIASETS based its training on the three fundamental areas of Education, Health and Transport to develop students so that they can directly participate in nation building.

Many of the students who have gone through these courses are able to secure jobs at respective private and government organisations.

Lately students have been assigned to respective health facilities, schools and organizations as part of their job placements.

A group of 1st and 2nd year nursing students have been doing antenatal checks for mothers at Badili Lawes Road Clinic in Port Moresby.

Last week, a handful of business students attached to the National Parliament completed their 3-month intensive training with an event.

This year 3 of the aviation students received further training in flying at Queens Aviation College in Australian through a partnership program.

Mr Pillar also encouraged other students that this could be the stepping stone to become pilots.
