The reports of previous Commission of Inquiry into the SABL scandals will be looked at following the establishment of a Customary Land Advisory Committee.
Lands Minister Justin Tkatchenko announced the Committee stating the effort is to address and resolve all outstanding SABL issues.
Lands Minister Justin Tkatchenko made it clear that the Committee’s aim is to look at the previous Commission of Inquiries and how best individual SABL’s can be resolved. Minister Tkatchenko said, about 175 different cases remain outstanding.
He said a time frame of 3 months is targeted for a particular case, and the Committee will be tasked to report the findings to the Government and public.
In the past term of Government, there has been considerable debate on SABLs.
The Government has remained optimistic to stop and terminate all SABL licenses issued. However, Minister Tkatchenko says some SABL’s are genuine.
“Some SABLs are genuine while others are not, those found to be illegal will be cancelled,” said Minister Tkatchenko.
Meanwhile, the Lands Minister said the Inquiry into the controversial Manu Manu Land Deal is going through final stages and will be presented to NEC for deliberation.
