The National Doctor’s Association (NDA) has come out today saying that there will not be a doctor’s strike in Port Moresby’s government hospital following the beating of a docto last week Wednesday.
The Association is happy with the response they have received from the Police Hierarchy saying it went as far as the Chief Secretary.
The Police Internal Investigation Unit said the police officers implicated have been called in for questioning.
The Police Commissioner, Gari Baki issues orders to find those responsible for the injuries.
Director Robert Ali said that they are in the process of identifying the police officers involved.
“We will find evidence and then charge them, it’s a matter of establishing who the officers are,” said Mr. Ali.
Director Ali said there are at least three police units implicated in the incident and they will be called in for interrogation.
Dr. Berry told EMTV that he was beaten by Police Officers in Tokarara after dropping off his sister. He said the Policemen were drunk.
At the time they accused him of dropping off criminals and proceeded to beat him. The extent of his injuries were severe.
When they were contacted by EMTV, NDA National Secretary, Dr Sam Yockapua said the association is satisfied with the response from the Police Hierarchy. He said the case has reached the highest level of authority, the Police Commissioner, Gari Baki and the Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari is aware.

This is another bluff by the police hierarchy. This case will obviously be swept under the carpet and the good Doctors will forget about it all in the coming months.
The investigation should have already been concluded after the ultimatum was issued 2 days ago. What kind of a response from the RPNGC again?!
