Central Bank governors and representatives from financial institutions around the Pacific gathered for the two-day meeting hosted by the Central Bank of Papua New Guinea and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion, to discuss de-risking which is having a huge impact on smaller pacific island countries that are remittance based as it is also an impediment to increasing access to basic financial services in the Pacific.
At the same meeting, the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion along with its partners launched a Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Policy for microfinance institutions.
The policy is designed to improve financial inclusion by strengthening PNG’s financial sector and to close the gender gap in financial inclusion.
