Pala Confident Government is Prepared for Predicted El Nino

Sitting Rigo MP, Ano Pala, was at Galomarubu in his electorate over the weekend spreading the policies of the People’s National Congress Party.

After meeting and mingling with the locals, he was asked about his plans on how he would deal with the upcoming predicted El Nino, or dry spell caused by effects of climate change.

Pala, said the government is ready to take on any challenge that may come its way, which included the predicted El Nino that is said to strike again in August.

“When you have a government that is committed to delivering services, we are also committed to providing a system of government that will allow us to deliver. And as a government, we are prepared to take on the challenges that are in front of us.”

The local people are currently enjoying an abundance of garden food, as was evident over the weekend. But the struggle was apparent between 2014 and 2016 when El Nino struck and the people were faced with food and water scarcity.

“And we’ve done it before when it was here; I think we are prepared to take it on as well. We have the experience and we have the leadership, we have the commitment and we have the public service system that is in place, working together and working well to deliver,” Pala said.

Like many other parts of the country, the people in Rigo District face the challenges associated with the prolonged dry weather pattern.
