Reflection Workshop To Learn GBV-coping Ideas

by Marie Kauna – EMTV Online, Port Moresby

A five-day gender-based justice reflection workshop is currently underway in Port Moresby.

The workshop brought together representatives of local community based organisations, working in partnership with OXFAM PNG, to address gender-based violence, and help victims at the local level.

The reflection workshop allowed representatives to present to other partners their operations, challenges they face, ways they overcome these challenges, and new initiatives they have developed to address Gender-based violence.

With support from OXFAM PNG, the smaller community-based organisations are helping address gender-based violence at their communities and ensure the victims are served the service they seek for.

According to Gender Justice Program Manager, Serah Chapau, this opportunity is a give-and-take experience for many of the representatives.

Now through the open dialogues and presentation from other partners, each participant will learn new ideas and skills to bring back to their provinces, and execute where necessary.

The workshop ends on Friday.
