Service providers in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville have been given assurance assured that debts from the 2012 National General Election will be paid.
Although the total outstanding cost for the 2012 National General Election was not disclosed, it’s believed to be a substantial amount of money.
And Acting Election Manager, Desmond Timiyaso says its important dues are paid before polling begins to avoid disruptions in the conduct of elections.
And he has thanked Bougainvilleans for showing the true spirit of Melanesia and always ensuring a safe, free and fair election.
“I have been assured by the PNG Electoral Commission that some payments will be paid until all are settled.” Timiyaso said.
Ha says the service providers claims must be settled because they are important and same institutions to render their services in any conduct of election.
“If in the event that the response are not forthcoming, we will have to revisit our polling plans for the actual conduct of elections,” Timiyaso told EMTV News.
