Fiji willing to take Pacific Games load off Tonga

As a result of Tonga’s recent withdrawal from hosting the 2019 Pacific Games due to financial constraints, Fiji has made its intentions known to take over the reins if approved by the Pacific Games Council.

Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASNOC) President, Joseph Rodan, said Fiji is already equipped with some of the best sports facilities in the region.

And counting on their experience of playing host to events such as the Melanesian and Oceania Games, Rodan is confident they can pull off a successful 2019 Pacific Games.

However, the FASNOC is yet to meet with their Ministry for Youth and Sport, and their government, before they can bid to be the host nation.
