PNGDF to Assist Police in Manus

Manus Police Provincial Command is gearing up for the 2017 National Election’s security operations throughout the province.

The command will be using two patrol boats from the PNG Defense Force, in Lombrum, to transport election materials to the outer islands.

Police have already commenced phase one of the Security Operations in Lorengau.

And with just one day away from the Issuing of Writs, police in Manus are preparing for phase two of the Security Operations.

Over 70 regular police men and women will be involved in this operation, with assistance from an estimated 30 reservists.

In the next two weeks, Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, will be launching the Security Operations for the New Guinea Islands Region in Lorengau.

The PNG Defence Force is expected to provide additional manpower with navy boats.

The Command itself has two police boats that will be conducting surveillance between Lorengau and the outer islands.
