Overcrowding in a Lae Primary School, has forced the teachers to find ways to accommodate the influx of students.
The teachers have had to place their desks outside to accommodate the students.
A grade six teacher at Omili Primary School, Marie Eliakim, who has been teaching for thirty-six years had never experienced the kind of influx experienced this year.
She is sharing a classroom with another teacher.
There are 80 students, on average, in a class. The teachers have to sit outside of the classroom since there is limited space inside.
The influx of students is triggered by the Free Education Policy.
The school is currently struggling to deal with the large number of students. This is due to the delay in government funding.
Omili Primary School is now in the process of opening four grade six classrooms this week, constructed using the project fees paid by the parents.
This will help minimise few of the problems faced by the school.
The school is calling on the government to deliver TFF on time to avoid such problems in future.
