The Rabaul Queen Trial is considered one of the longest yet expansive trials in the country.
The case has now dragged into its fifth year.
In April 2016, after numerous court proceedings, a trial commenced into the 2012 maritime disaster which killed more than 200 passengers.
Over 200 people, either survivors or relatives of the people who died or perished on that day, had their names enlisted as possible witnesses to testify against the two accused.
MV Rabaul Queen owner, Captain Peter Robert Sharp, and his ship’s Captain, Anthony Tsiau, each had 172 counts of manslaughter charges laid against their names.
