Road Traffic Authority Warns Public on Overloading

With the hype of the 2017 National Elections looming, the Road Traffic Authority is warning the public about overloading vehicles.

Chief Executive Officer, Nelson Terema, said the public must not take risks because overloading of vehicles is one of the main causes of traffic deaths.

“Many communities are linked by road, I believe many candidates will be using vehicles to campaign”, said CEO Terema.

In the past 3 months, the Road Traffic Authority has seen a rise in road accidents.

According to the RTA, 3 out of 5 accidents in a month are caused by overloading.

The authority is doing its best to carry out awareness in communities, but is crippled by its small capacity since breaking away from the Transport Division.

“We are currently putting frameworks surrounding our policies and traffic regulations”, said Terema.

The RTA Chief Executive is asking the public to be responsible, and not to take the risk of overloading vehicles.

“Drivers or crew must make it their responsible not to allow overloading”, said Terema.
