Two Papua New Guineans who accompanied Danish adventurer, Thor Jensen, in an attempt to circumnavigate the Island of New Guinea in a canoe are now stranded in Indonesia.

Brothers Sanakoli and Justin John, from Milne Bay province, are in Fakfak with Thor Jensen awaiting sponsorship funds promised by the Sandaun Provincial Government.

Jensen contacted EMTV via Facebook yesterday afternoon saying they were running out of supplies and can’t pay for the final leg of their journey.

The trio, began the journey in PNG and crossed the border towards the end of last year using a traditional canoe.

Jensen has sent out an appeal to the Sandaun Provincial Government to pay the promised funds.
