Villagers of Sasanuraif clan of the Markham Valley stand to become the first large-scale rice farmers in the country.
Levis Maring of the Chingwam Rice Cooperative, says rice has a stable price compared to the bags of peanut they used to grow.
He also said labour is less intense.
