Digicel Cutting a quarter of Global workforce

Global Telecoms Company, Digicel is cutting its global workforce by 25 percent over the next 18 months in a move to achieve its 2030 vision.

The company wants to be fit for purpose in 2030 and beyond.

The global workforce cutback could affect Papua New Guinean employees attached with Digicel PNG.

Digicel has around 6,000 staff across 31 countries primarily in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific.

In a statement released on the company’s website, Digicel Group CEO, Colm Delves said the company’s end goal is to be leaner, faster and more efficient.

He said there is a lot of duplication across its markets in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific.

Its understood that the Digicel Group is carrying a debt of over 6 billion US dollars and it had shelved its plans to go public after investors were not prepared to pay for the share prices offered.
