Kali: GESI Policy has Achieved Results

The Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Policy has achieved results since its introduction in 2013.

Personnel Management Department Secretary, John Kali, told EMTV News that most government departments have complied by implementing this policy.

The GESI policy serves both genders of male and female: men, women, youth, children and people with special needs of every race and colours, to participate in economic development activities.

Secretary Kali says the GESI Policy has been achieving results.

“It’s a new way of life. And one of them is giving women access to services, training opportunities and decision-making positions in the bureaucracy,”

In 2014, all government departments were directed to create a position of the GESI coordinator, to report directly to the head of organisation.

This was piloted in two key provinces of Gulf and West New Britain which has produced positive results.

“Many government departments are well implementing this GESI Policy. Happy to also say that many public service leaders are now involved in this program,”

All government departments yet to implement the GESI Policy are encouraged to do so.

“We will make it a key result area, in terms of performance management contract,” Kali said.
