There was a brief period of more than one point of order in parliament yesterday afternoon, as Madang MP, Bryan Kramer, asked Finance Minister, James Marape on the legality of a K3 miilion contract awarded to a foreign company by NCDC under the City’s Development through the Yoga Program. His question framed on the backdrop of public funds, to which he says the public needs answers.
While attempting to answer the question, Minister Marape was interrupted by several points of orders.
Although Minister Marape explained that the awarding of contracts is handled by different parties according to the Public Finance Management Act, NCD Governor Powes Parkop interrupted with a point of order, telling Mr. Kramer not to ‘politicize’ the issue.
Mr. Kramer retained that the issue was concerning public funds, and that NCDC should come out clear on how the contract was awarded.
