The PNG under 19 Garamuts’ training is picking up well despite the wet weather pattern in the Nation’s Capital.
Head Coach Kila Pala told EMTV Sports today during one of their training sessions that the current training outfit has a total of 24 players, which will be cut down to 15 come January 2nd.
Now that the Garamuts have less than 2 months left for training before their World Cup departure date which has been set for January 6th, training has become intensive.
Going into ICC U19 Cricket World Cup and off the back of a successful East Asia Pacific Qualifiers tour in Samoa, the selected 15 of the 24 will be going up against very strong opposition.
Head Coach Kila Pala said some of the boys are attending school at the moment and that is why training will continue for them all through December as well.
There are already some players who have proven outstanding and are likely to make the team in the coming weeks.
The Garamuts will be playing 5 trial matches against some Australian teams but are yet to confirm dates for those matches.
In the meantime, the coaching staff with Head Coach Pala is getting them prepared as much as time and resources allow.
