Two from six! That’s how many tips I’ve got right so far this weekend, what an absolute nightmare! It just goes to show how close this competition is…or my lousy history if backing losers, whatever.
How about the Panthers on Saturday after? That comeback was amazing!
The Titans on Saturday night? Shocking a star studded Storm outfit at the very death! Breathtaking. Hopefully the last two games this afternoon go my way so my tipping pool reputation doesn’t take a hit like the Tigers points differential on Friday.
KNIGHTS V RAIDERS
2pm Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium
This one seems cut and dry. The Raiders, one of this year’s favourites for the titles against last year’s wooden spooners who’ve only one game this season. The Novacastrians have been brave this season with the young squad unlucky in several matches due to poor options or being on the wrong end of 50/50 calls. The former only experience will rectify and they are getting plenty of that. For the Green Machine, the last two weeks have put a dent in their premiership run. Ricky Stuart’s men have a tendency to go missing during matches and will need to arrest this on Sunday afternoon to get back into the top 8.
Tip: Again, to most but the most ardent Knights fans the Raiders are raging hot favourites to continue the cellar dwellers woes this season. I however think this is a danger game for Canberra given Newcastle took them right down to the wire in two absolute thrillers last season. Raiders to win.
ROOSTERS V EELS
4pm Sunday at Allianz Stadium
The last game of the round promises to be a beauty. Both teams are in the top 8 and will no doubt want to further that climb to a top four spot, Parramatta more so as a loss here could see them tumble out off the top half of the table with the Raiders snapping at their heels. The only major change for Sydney City comes in the form of Latrell Mitchell who slots in for Shaun Kenny-Dowell, the latter being stood down by the club. On the other side there are whispers try scoring machine Bevan French may comeback from injury and take back his custodian role. This would push Gutherson back to standoff in a move that will further strengthen the Eels lineup.
Tip: The Eels having been playing some decent footy and are on a 3 game winning streak. They’ve been very impressive in their wins and if not for a penchant to nod off at important times of games I’d back them. I like the Roosters metre eating forwards and the spine of Gordon, Pearce, Kreary and Friend looks the goods.
Roosters in a close one.
