The Catholic Diocese in Lae is stepping in to help fund Catholic-run schools in Lae because of the delay in the Tuition Fee Free Payments.
The Catholic Education Secretary in Lae, Louis Worealevi, said though the policy is giving every child access to education, some still do not have spaces in schools.
He said the government should concentrate on building more schools, provide textbooks and train more teachers for quality education.
