Member for Komo Margarime, Francis Potape, will appear at the Waigani National Court tomorrow for paying himself K60, 000 as sitting allowance while chairman of Komo Margarima Joint District Priority and Budget Priority Committee.
The Task Force Sweep team says the alleged payment was well above the normal sitting allowances prescribed for JDP & BPC members.
Meanwhile convicted Pomio MP, Paul Tiensten, awaits another ruling for misappropriating K3.4 million. He is alleged to have diverted that money into Tol Port Services Ltd, a company he partly owned.
In similar cases, Mark Maludu, former CEO of Kimbe General Hospital, was convicted and faces sentencing next Friday while another health officer Benjamin Selep from East New Britain was also convicted, awaiting sentencing.
Trial has been completed on a former departmental head, Anthony Kulit, for defrauding the state of K3 million.
In the Paraka investigations, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, Opposition Leader Belden Namah, former Treasurer Don Polye and Finance Minister James Marape will have their application heard on May 21, 2014 relating to this investigation.
