A survey is underway to identify the demand and supply of bus routes in Port Moresby. Road Traffic Authority Chief Executive Officer, Nelson Terema, says this comes as the city experiences population growth and some routes become non-existent.
Mr. Terema says the survey should map a way forward for authorities to fix issues affecting bus services within the city. The expansion of housing estates and new settlements on the fringes of the city have also seen new routes created within the last 3 years.
Mr. Terema says the demand and supply of bus services in the city is changing. He says RTA is working with relevant agencies to complete the survey. Other relevant traffic laws will be established to improve the current level of PMV services in Port Moresby. Mr. Terema added that the city is growing and authorities want a better and reliable transport system for the public.
The survey is hoped to be completed this year.
