Women Softball: Stingerz Win Grandfinals

The Stingerz Women’s softball club have taken both the A and B grade titles after winning their respective grand finals in the Port Moresby Women’s Softball League.

Both teams fought right down to the wire against worthy rivals in Yokomo and Gazelle respectively.

The stingerz softball B team had a tough struggle against a highly experienced gazelle team boasting several top players and fought hard early to stay in the competition.

It went down to sheer tenacity at the end of it. Yokomo with the big hits and stingerz stealing bases, Stingerz captain Vanessa Mulas coming home in the end and sealing the narrow victory 17 to 16.

The A grade division was even tighter as the Stingerz A grade team now took on a Gazelle team boosted by the support of the vocal crowd.

The grand final went down to the wire with the stingerz only assured victory towards the end of the 7th innings.

Stingerz eventually proving themselves worthy with a gritty 5 home runs to 3 victory, to complete the double of both the A and B grade grand final winners.
