St Josephs International School Hosts Rugby Festival

St Joseph International School in Port Moresby held its Rugby Festival today at the Monier Rugby Park.

The festival concludes their six weeks Pacific in Union program.

It is aimed at teaching basic rugby skills to students and to motivate upcoming rugby stars.

In their third year participating in the roll out of the Pacific in Union program, St Joseph’s College is the first school among the eight nominated school to host their rugby festival.

Kicking off their festival yesterday, the students had a timely visit by our 2015 Games Mascot, Tura the Kokomo.

It was an opportunity to capture their excitement along with Game Development Officers, Kapani Roberts and Steven Kodana.

A total of 1070 students from St Joseph’s have participated in the roll-out of the PiU program.

The program aimed at equipping students with the knowledge of healthy living and making good choices as well as learning basic rugby skills of passing, catching, forming a ruck and maul and tackling.

And it was evident in the entertaining matches in the Green level, Blue Level and Gold Level, as all parents looked on in support.
