Shortage of blood in The Western Highlands Province

The third largest city in Papua New Guinea, Mt Hagen is faced with a shortage of blood in the province’s blood bank at the general hosipital.    

Youth- Link PNG with OM Holdings in partnership with Red Cross – Western Highlands office, and the Western Highlands provincial Health Authority Cardiac Clinic have called on Mt Hagen residents to come forward and donate blood.   

Youth- Links Highlands President, Derick Nagul revealed that there was a shortage in the blood bank of the Mt Hagen General Hospital.

Nagul said the blood drawn from this drive will serve patients in Mt Hagen and the rest of the province.

He said that so far, the response received from corporate houses’ has been positive and they expect a good turnout from Mt Hagen Residents.

The blood drive will be held tomorrow from 10am to 3pm at the Red Cross office, situated opposite to the Mt Hagen General Hospital.

The organisations involved in this exercise have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for ongoing blood drives and corporate support in WHP and the rest of the Highlands region.
