Sapolai Yao is the latest PNG track athlete to go to the United States for training and to further his education.
He has been in the PNG athletics squad for many years. He enrolled at the Northern Iowa Area Community College on a two year human resource program.
Yao has also enrolled joined the college’s track and cross country team.
PNG Athletics president Tony Green said the long distance runner has settled in well with studies and training and he is looking forward to the Regional Championships at Marshalltown next month.
Sharon Kwarula, Wala Gime and Cecilia Kumalalamene are three other PNG athletes currently on scholarship programs at Iowa Central College as well.
