In Tonight’s Athlete Profile, we feature a young lady who changed her boots from soccer to Rugby Union.
Rumona Morris, who led the Under 20 Women’s Team to near victory in the World Cup Qualifier recently, has made it into the PNG Palais Hong Kong-bound train-on Squad.
She’s got enough reason to smile, and says to take it one step at a time.
Rumona is 20, and was the captain for PNG side that took part in the Oceania Football Confederation, U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Mangere, New Zealand.
Unfortunately PNG was stopped by regional giants, New Zealand.
But this didn’t stop Rumona to look further, and outside the box.
She quickly changed her boots to Union and took part in the Women’s Provincial National 7s championship, which was held here in Port Moresby.
She played for Madgauns team from Madang, and they made it to the semis.
This lanky lass from mixed parentage of Manus and Milne Bay, has her sight set on a Palais wing jersey, but now she will have to prove her worth, to the coaching staff.
Meanwhile, the CPL PNG Palais are in camp at the Bomana Correctional service. The Squad will be trimmed down to a final twelve, before the team is Hong Kong bound.
