The Rugby League World Cup will promote Papua New Guinea’s status as a league Nation.
Andrew Hill, CEO for the Rugby League World Cup, made these comments in an exclusive interview with EMTV today (050617).
Having successfully hosted other major sporting events, eyes will once again return to Port Moresby in October, as the world championships hits the shores of the nation.
Alongside Hill, Rohan Sawyer, who in his capacity as General Manager for Commercials and Marketing, says, that this is the opportunity to showcase Papua New Guinea’s ability at hosting.
Over the coming months, the World cup’s hype will be built. With the weight of a nation, the PNG Kumuls will be playing three of their home games in the National Football Stadium, and hill says, the expectations will be high.
Alongside the men however, the World Cup will also be an opportunity for the Women of the code to take part, and both men are happy that the status of the sport will boosted by the free-to-air coverage of EMTV.
The Rugby League World Cup will commence on the 27th of October to the 2th of December.
