West New Britain people will soon benefit from new road infrastructure, following the donation of road equipment yesterday in the provincial capital of Kimbe.
The machines are part of the forty-eight machines donated by Japanese International Cooperation Agency to Morobe, Western Highlands, East Sepik and West New Britain.
The equipment was officially launched by the Works Secretary, David Vereh, and West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel in front of the Provincial Administration.
Governor Muthuvel said the Province is desperate for road development and road maintenance to open up access to the rural areas. He pledged his commitment to support the Provincial Works Department and urged his administration to ensure the machines are fully utilized.
Mr. Muthuvel believes these machines will improve road conditions that have been deteriorating over the past ten years and build more roads to inland communities to connect them to services like health and education.
Recent road maintenance was carried out along the road to Hoskins, after heavy rain fall damaged bridges and washed debris to the centre of the road.
