A local pharmaceutical company is asking the general public to be aware of counterfeit products being sold by certain shops around the country.
It says imitations of a body spray, The Touch of Magic, is which is currently being sold poses a potential risk to people’s health, as it causes skin ailments if used.
Sales Manager for Niugini Wholesale Drug, Angus King, said Chemcare Group of companies is doing all that it can to raise awareness on counterfeit products.
However, with the current slump in the economy, production has declined, many jobs have been cut, with more products imported.
While others are doing what they can to keep going, counterfeit products are being imported into the country regularly, and not much attention is given to address this issue.
The famous Touch of Magic body spray is a product that is widely distributed by Niugini Wholesale Distributors.
There are now counterfeits of the product sold at cheap prices in shops.
